Monday, August 28, 2017

ºìÐÓÖ±²¥appprides itself on recruiting and retaining ºìÐÓÖ±²¥apply qualified employees. ºìÐÓÖ±²¥appemployees are the backbone to promoting the best possible future for students. To uphold DCPS’ mission, employees must always adhere to ethical and professional conduct guidelines. Employees that engage in inappropriate or unprofessional conduct may create barriers to students’ academic success and impede ºìÐÓÖ±²¥appand the DC government from achieving its goals.

This policy provides guidance to ºìÐÓÖ±²¥appemployees on how they should conduct themselves within, and outside of, the workplace. This policy applies to all individuals who work at DCPS, including interns and contractors fulfilling duties assigned by the agency.

This policy begins by discussing employees’ right to union representation in contract and other workplace matters. It then outlines employee protections including prohibitions on discrimination, providing accommodations, and whistleblower protections. This policy then discusses ethical responsibilities applicable to all ºìÐÓÖ±²¥appemployees, including appropriate boundaries between employees and students. The next section describes general employee misconduct and disciplinary action procedures. This policy has a separate policy on the prohibition against harassment and sexual harassment, and provides guidance on how to report a claim. Finally, this policy contains some forms appliable to the guidance provided in this policy, including the DC Government Employee Ethics Pledge.
